About This Book
Abstract: The results of a survey of school food service administrators on computer hardware, software, and applications currently in use in their operations are compiled in this directory from the Food and Nutrition Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The directory is designed to benefit school food service personnel in developing or enhancing systems utilizing computers and in contacting other schools on systems and applications which can be adapted. The following types of data are presented fro each of 101 schools: 1) school's name, address, and contact person, 2) size and participation data-number of cafeterias, enrollment served, average daily participation, the percentage of free and reduced price meals served, 3) and computer data items. Data items describe hardware, operating systems, application programs, languages used on mainframe, systems limitations, type of modem and speed of transmission, and computer applications currently in use. Predominant applications reported by the school systems are payroll, inventory, participation, budget, and state reports. Directory entries are arranged alphabetically by school location (state and city). A sample copy of the questionnaire used in the survey is included. (aje)
