About This Book

In its resolution 48/218 B of 29 July 1994, the General Assembly established the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) to enhance oversight functions within the United Nations, in view of the increased importance, cost and complexity of the Organization's activities. Enhanced oversight was to be achieved through intensified evaluation, audit, inspection and compliance monitoring and the establishment of an investigations function.
