About This Book
Today, the community of Hohenstein on the Swabian Alps consists of five former independent villages: Oedenwaldstetten, Bernloch, Meidelstetten, Oberstetten, and Eglingen. While the former first became Protestant duing the 16th century the latter two remained Catholic. In all of the five villages, at least two political parties were confronted with each other, sometimes even Catholic and Protestant.
The book concentrates on the history of the separation between Catholics and Protestants from the reformation up to 1750 when some conflicts came to an end. It is the first regional study about the area on everyday life of people living in the neighborship of others who belonged to another church.
