However, although he did not shy away from it, Octavio Paz was not a man eager for fame. He was not intoxicated by vanity. He wanted to be read, yes, but he did not care about being "known". He knew that fame is a kind of confusion and that poetry imposes strict moral responsibilities - that is, to a large extent, the theme of "A difficult learning", one of the poems that make up Águila or sol? For that reason, he did not accept to be photographed easily, and beyond the images that graphic reporters inevitably captured in public events, he used to reject the requests made by photographers - some of them very connoted.
