The spreading flame

At the dawn of the second millennium there was almost universal darkness over the ecclesiastical world. The simple church of Jesus Christ, begun in New Testament times, had all but disappeared under a cloud of superstition, ceremony, half-truth and error. However, in the midst of this spiritual darkness, there were glimmerings of light. And there was a far greater light, indeed an intense shining beacon, to be lit in the middle of this new millennium.
