The development of family therapy techniques for families with developmentally disabled children

The purpose of this research is to develop a demonstration model of family therapy techniques that could be applicable to families in the fields of mental retardation and developmental disabilities. The procedures will be designed for mental health professionals working in clinical settings.

The activities of this investigation will include determining which traditional techniques of family therapy may be utilized with MR/DD families and developing alternative techniques when traditional approaches as designated are ineffectual.
