The book documents the life and military career of the United States top scoring North American P-51 Mustang fighter pilot during WW II. Major Preddy was officially credited with 26.83 aerial victories. He was killed by "friendly fire" on December 25, 1944 and was at that time the top scoring Fighter Ace then serving in the European Theater of Operations. He is ranked 7th among all US Fighter Aces of WW II. He is buried at the Lorraine American Military Cemetary, St. Arvold, France beside his brother Lt. William R Preddy, a fighter pilot, KIA near Prague, Czechoslovakia 16 April 1945.
