About This Book

The author of this book was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, London. He was an assist surgeon with the British military and received a land grant in Woodstock, Ontario where he practiced medicine for many years. He also taught anatomy in Toronto before moving again to New Zealand, where he died in 1871. The book includes one plate of illustrations drawn and hand coloured by the author. McGill Library owns the only known Canadian copy.
