Register und Ergänzungen zum "Etymologisch-Ethnologischen Wörterbuch tungusischer Dialekte"

"Till our days the "Tungus Dictionary" of the great Russian Tungusologist and social anthropologist Sergei Michailovich Shirokogorov (1887-1939) with its more than 24.000 entries is one of the most important lexicographic works on the field of Tungusology. But this work had been difficult to use because of its handwritten character till its analysis and edition by the Göttingen scholar, the Altaicist and Tungusologist Gerhard Doerfer (1920-2003). With the edition of the "Etymologisch-ethnologisches Wörterbuch tungusischer Dialekte (vornehmlich der Mandschurei)" ["Etymological and ethnological dictionary of Tungus dialects (mainly of Manchuria)"] (by G. Doerfers in 2004) based on the work of Shirokogorov, this grievance has found its remedy, but unfortunately further materials which should be included in the edition of the "Tungus Dictionary" were omitted. Among these were supplementary materials to the "Tungus Dictionary" compiled by E. N. Shirokogorova, addenda and corrigenda to the "Etymologisch-ethnologisches Wörterbuch" by the author of the volume in hand. In addition to this some indices to the etymological and ethnological dictionary by the author were not finalized by the time of publication of the dictionary. Taking into consideration that the dictionary based on the "Tungus Dictionary" itself was difficult to use without such help, the omitted materials as well as the indices are given now in the volume in hand." --Back cover.
