Christian Macketanz

For almost three decades, Christian Macketanz has been part of an artistic movement that is based on traditions of figurative painting but at the same time he eludes trends in his medium. In works that focus on the human form, he uses painting to explore methods of visual communication by means of facial expressions, gestures and body language. To tell without being illustrative; to imply without emphasising the mysterious; to paint without relying on the pathos of painting - these are issues that the artist examines in depth, thus developing an extremely subtle artistic oeuvre.
