Dinner of Herbs

"Dinner of Herbs" recounts a year that the author spent in a remote Turkish village in the late Sixties. It has been widely praised for its sensitivity to the culture and its insight into village life in a poor and remote region. It is finally written and includes many photographs. Paul Bowles, the novelist and composer, gives it a personal endorsement. The author subsequently gained international recognition and acclaim for her efforts to preserve the cultural artifacts at the Kabul Museum from repeated attacks by the Taliban and other interest groups in war-torn Afghanistan.
