About This Book
Cynicism is the philosophy of freedom. As an ideology, it has represented the expression of the counterculture, the different and rebellious thinking; it remained latent throughout history, but recovered strongly in postmodern thought, whose practical basis is transgressive. Could it also be a counterweight to traditional forms of creativity, in the construction of urban architectural space, architecture and the city? This book explores, from a historical, critical and analytical perspective, how young and rebellious cynicism, or better, quinism, fractures the ingrained structures of architectural thought and presents itself as a positive argument, capable of generating new values, a playful and humorous response to the desperate nihilism of the modern city. Not exempt from irony, perversion and fruition, it proposes experimental strategies for the creation of new disruptive territories; in its apparent irrationality are the necessary ingredients required to understand the sometimes unintelligible phenomena of the production of space in the 21st century
