About This Book

Homeruskwartier in the new town of Almere Poort is a large residential area in the Netherlands being developed and built by its own residents. The district will eventually consist of 3,400 homes, of which over 1,000 are private commissions. All forms of construction exist -- canal houses, commuter villas, cottages, garden houses, and residential towers. Variety and diversity define the special character of the neighborhoods. Living can be combined with work and retailers can build their own shops. The urban design plan is from Floris Alkemade and Art Zaaijer of the firm OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture).
