Barney Beagle

A beautiful, feelgood story about a young beagle puppy (Barney!) who watches all the other puppies in the pet shop find the right owner, and wonders when he will find 'his boy'. Time passes, and finally 'his boy' turns up, but doesn't have enough money to buy him. The shopkeeper, recognising the perfect match, takes pity and allows the boy to pay whatever he can, meaning that just before the shop closes, dooming Barney to a lonely night (all the other puppies having been sold), he gets to go home with the perfect owner.
