Otsego stories

Otsego Stories had its start during the bicentennial celebration of the founding of Otsego County in 1992. Members of the Storytelling Center of Oneonta, encouraged by a decentralization grant for the Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts, sought out stories based in the county over those two hundred years. This collection is but a few of the many stories with their roots in Otsego County. The stories in printed form make interesting, as well as informative, reading about life in the county. But these stories were adapted by the Oneonta storytellers to be told - as they were done initially. As crafted in this volume, the stories have been told to groups throughout Otsego County. It is the intent that this publication will encourage the oral tradition and perpetuate the wonderful folklore of Otsego County. ... So take these stories and make them your won.
