About This Book

The journal of Captain Cavalie Mercer who was the troop (or battery) commander of 'G' Troop Royal Horse Artillery at Waterloo. He kept a detailed personal diary of his time before the campaign opened and of the days during the campaign when his battery was on the right of Wellington's line at Waterloo. His descriptions of the other British and German regiments near his battery are very revealing, as are his descriptions of the attacks by the French cavalry. He later rose to become a general in the Royal Artillery.
