This versified narrative, of which De Bry made use in partt 8 of his collection of voyages, begins with an account of Columbus and ends about 1560, with the expedition of Orsua and the crimes of Aguirre. The author, who had been a soldier in his youth, and according to his own statement had taken part in many of the battles of which he writes, became an ecclesiastic late in life.
