About This Book

In 1933 Ludwig fled Nazi Germany to Tel Aviv. Barely able to speak the Hebrew language, he worked his way up from orange picker to general manager with great energy and a sunny disposition. Just in time he brings his parents and siblings to Palestine and thus saves their lives. When he met the beautiful Hannah in 1940 and the two married, a happy future was looming. But personal blows of fate and the political uncertainty in the newly founded state of Israel make Ludwig and Hannah long for their German homeland. Together with their son Rafael, they return to a Germany where prejudices against Jews are by no means a thing of the past.
