The fiction of Nathanael West

This critical study, originally written by Stanford graduate Randall Reid (1931-1992) in 1967, explores Nathanael West's four novels (*The Dream Life of Balso Snell, Miss Lonelyhearts, A Cool Million,* and *The Day of the Locust*) in light of his incorporation of popular culture sources and motifs. This is one of the most complete studies of West's idiosyncratic literary output.
