About This Book
Choy-León is a nationally and internationally well-known architectural firm that after 30 years of academic, architecture and urban planning professional experience, has bought Cuban architecture back to the international scene. Architects José Antonio Choy López (Santiago de Cuba, 1949) and of Julia León Lacher (Havana, 1948) are two emerging names in current Cuban architecture. Their genuine integration with the Caribbean environment and dialogue with the urban space that identifies their knowhow and creativity is imprinted in each one of their designs. Several generations of Cuban architects have been formed through their tireless way of working, the contagious optimism. The book includes a selection of 21 of their built works. It also includes critical texts of their projects by renowned architects as well as a group of excellent drawings of edifications made by Choy who, through lines -sometimes figurative and at others abstract- goes beyond the mere illustration of the works to grant them aesthetic value.
