About This Book

Contains the recommendations of the University Planning Committee, which consisted of fifty-four faculty, administrative staff, alumni, students, and Trustees who met to determine Duke’s needs and objectives for the next five years and beyond. A letter at the beginning from Duke President Terry Sanford, dated 10/26/72, asks faculty and administrative staff to review it and share comments, after which a final report would be prepared. The Law School’s development needs are covered at pp. 31-34 and include the need for new faculty to teach emerging areas of law such as environmental law, consumer law, and the law as it relates to women; the need for improvements to facilities; and the need for increased funding and staff for the library.
