About This Book

Norwegian folk art has long been embraced with great interest. Among this folk art, there is hardly any type of object that has been considered by both collectors and others as better representatives of it than wooden drinking vessels. The first book presents Pål Georg Gundersen's collection of such drinking vessels. The collection, which has been systematically built up over a period of thirty years, is unique and the largest of its kind ever collected by a private individual. It can also be measured both qualitatively and quantitatively by public collections. Each individual object is depicted and described in detail, and emphasis is placed on placing the objects both geographically and chronologically. Book number two deals with beer bowls, scoops, jars, jugs and spouts
