Cirilo Marmolejo

"Authors consider Cirilo Marmolejo, founder of the 'legendary' Mariachi Coculense de Cirilo Marmolejo, to be the 'principal introducer' of mariachi music in Mexico City, a process which began around 1919. This study traces the family back to the 17th century, providing facsimiles of baptismal certificates and letters. Briefly deals with other mariachi groups from the early-20th century.
