About This Book

The Jerusalem Seminar in Architecture began in 1992, when a select group of international architects and critics gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the inauguration of the new Supreme Court with a symposium on the public building. The seminar has since grown into a biennial three-day forum where the world's most distinguished architects and critics present their current work and discuss the most pressing issues in architectural practice today.

This generously illustrated volume documents the 1992, 1994, and 1996 sessions of The Jerusalem Seminar in Architecture, and as the first published record of these seminal conferences it offers readers an unprecedented window into the thoughts and strategies of today's leading architects and urban planners.

Each section includes the architects' edited presentations illustrated with photographs, plans, and drawings. The book also features essays by critics, biographies of all of the participants, a project list, and, in the 1996 section, informal discussions between architects and critics.
