About This Book
Willy Trembath's wartime memories are occasionally tragic, sometimes solemn, but mostly downright hilarious.
After guarding the London Docks during the Blitz as a territorial, he was commissioned in the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. Then as a raw 2nd Lieutenant he sailed to India to join the 16th Punjab Regiment. After seeing active service with them in Burma he transferred to a Gurkha Battalion.
The characters he recalls are many and varied, but always memorable. Each episode is complete in itself, with a satisfying climax that betrays the deft touch of a master storyteller. --Cover
