About This Book

Old Trojans in New Troy is about the Armenian community living in Troy, New York during the height of the shirt collar and cuff industry (which started in 1837). The factories were producing collars and cuffs that can be easily washed by separating the collar or cuff from the body of the shirt. Many Armenians men and women were among the workers at these factories. Some spoke either Armenian or Turkish, while their children spoke English. Church services were held in three languages.
