It's the summer of '82 and college dropout Heavenly Wilcox has found the perfect apartment in an idyllic California beach town. A job in the public defender's office pays the bills and life looks to be sweet. Her best friend, Mona, is a bohemian rocker poised for glory. The possibility of a new boyfriend is also spicing up Hev's summer.But it's the new girl downstairs, Jules, who catches her attention. Dumbfounded by the attraction, Hev looks for a distraction and finds it in a newspaper clipping, lottery winnings, a missing resident and a Rottweiler suddenly in her care. Blackmail and murder are the last things she expected to discover under California's sunny skies.With each new twist and turn, Hev finds it hard to say who's the villain and who's the victim.
