Arguments for the "aquatic ape" theory of human evolution, that many unique aspects of human physiology in comparison to other apes, can be explained by adaptation to a semi-aquatic environment (shallow saltwater lakes as existed in the Great Rift Valley of Africa at the time chimpanzees and humans began to split from a common ancestor).
