This book deals with the private production of public spaces through the analysis of regulations of incentive applied in contexts as diverse as Santiago in Chile, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo and Yokohama, as well as regulatory experiences in some German cities. Comprises a systematic analysis of the spaces created by incentive in the Provincial district of Santiago, which are described and discussed in all its complexity from the perspective of the architects, planners, real estate managers and officials of local governments. In addition is brought to discussion the background which has this urban practice, through trials and research on the spatial condition and sense of what is really "public".
