About This Book

During the winter of 2015, seven families from Ivry-sur-Seine, in the first ring of Paris, identified some available land and decided to embark on a participative habitat project. The book traces their intense exchanges, mainly by e-mail, during the three years necessary for setting up operations and ends with the obtaining of the building permit and bank loans. This diary is a unique document among the stories of participatory housing. It tells the discovery and the appropriation of its stakes, its process, the particularity of the work with the architect, and relations with the banks. This story is completed by a testimony from another operation, Mascobado, on the conditions necessary for the proper functioning of a participative habitat and the continuation of the ideals of origin. It is enriched with photographs presenting old or very recent operations. A glossary and an index allow a thematic reading of the book.
