Album weeds; or, How to detect forged stamps

This book was written to help collectors identify commonly encountered faked or forged stamps in the late 19th century. Many fakes and forgeries were sold as real items and facsimiles when the original was either too scarce to obtain or too expensive. Earlier collectors accepted these as part of the hobby (philately) but towards the latter part of the 19th century these fakes and facsimiles fell into disrepute.
