Originally detective series captivate crime readers everywhere: Michael Connelly's City of Bones (Little, Brown and Company, 4/02) and A Darkness More Than Night (Little, Brown and Company, 2001), featuring Detective Harry Bosch, have sold over 721,400 hardcover copies; and Archer Mayor's Vermont series, featuring Detective Joe Gunther, has sold over 380,000 hardcover and paperback copies combined. As evidenced by the popularity of Law and Order, NYPD Blue, and Third Watch, the national market for NYPD crime drama is enormous.
