About This Book

'Ka Zinna Ram' (My Traveled Lands), 1979, records Siamkima Khawlhring's travels in 1975-77 to the U.S.A. where he was a research associate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, as well as to Europe and Israel. Siamkima (1954-1992) was a formost literary personality for the Mizo language and people, a minority group who live in the hills bordering Assam, India and Burma. Mizo is an historically notable language in the Tibeto-Burman branch of the Sino-Tibetan language family in that it retains final [r] and [l] as well as presenting phonetic richness such as aspirated initial nasals plus [r] and [l] and syllable tones.
