Schoolteacher Joanna Howard stands accused of corrupting an underage boy - a child she swears she has never even met. The charge is so preposterous that she cannot believe that anyone would take it seriously. Within days the authorities build up a substantial case against her and she is appalled to find the townsfolk believe the gossip.
