An 1853 reprint of the 1850 second edition of a two-volume engineering text. This new edition contains, in part one, four separate 'treatises'. These are on the steam engine (stationary, marine and locomotive), machine gearing, machine tools, and water wheels. Part two of the first volume contains description of the plates that appear in volume two. Volume two contains lithograph plates.
