About This Book

In the Edo period, there were 53 stations along the post road from Nihon Bridge in Tokyo to Sanjō Brigde in Kyoto. These stations became a favorite topic for painters. Tōkaidō gojūsauntsugi means fifty-three posts in Tōkaidō. This is a reprint of Andō Hiroshige's works. It consists of fifty-six full-page hand-colored illustrations.
