About This Book

Prinknash Park is an ancient monastic settlement in Gloucestershire. In 1096 the Anglo-Norman Giffard family gave the land to the Abbot of Gloucester, Serlo, who began the process of turning the property into Abbey. The Abbey was later dissolved by Henry VIII around 1539 and the Abbey became a private house. This book is about the history of the Abbey and of the Park.

Today the Park is once again an Abbey. In 1928 it was given to a new Benedictine order, the monks of Caldey Island.
