The Special Task Force on the Condition and Future of the Illinois Energy Infrastructure (created 8/16/2003), which was comprised of ten cabinet level members and chaired by the Lt. Governor, was charged with analyzing the state's existing power generation, transmission and distribution systems; examining nuclear power plant safety; developing ways to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy; and evaluating the possibility of Illinois power outages and the state's emergency response preparedness.
