About This Book

Over the past thirty-six years, the Biennial of Photography has been a competition that summons photographers and visual artists from different parts of Mexico. The catalogue of the 18th Biennale of Photography comprises the projects of 24 selected artists of the contest, among them the awards of acquisition and honorable mention, who speak about their creative processes. It also includes the reflection of the members of the jury around the themes and trends of this Biennial. Selected works included: Acquisition prize for "Flores" (Flowers) by Omar Gámez; and selected nominations for: "Smail" by Alessandro Bo; "Terra Nullius*" by Alfredo Esparza; "Fosa" (Pit) by Animales de Poder; "Flamazo" (Flare) by Anna Soler Cepriá; "Las caras de Terezín" (The faces of Terezín) by Diego Ortiz; "Desandar" (Retracing one's steps) by Eunice Adorno; "Tierra conmovida" (The earth that shook) by François Pesant and "Trabajo de bendición-trabajo bendecido" (Blessing work-blessed work) by Jorge Rosano Gamboa.
