About This Book
The present retrospective edition comprises the artistic production of artist and photographer Ananké Asseff (b. Buenos Aires 1971) for the last 13 years, documenting her diverse body of work. Although photography is her main media, the projects that the artist has explored throughout her career vary from big installations, self-portraits, sculptures, video performances, Installations, Interactivity, to site specifics. "We have discussed the coherence that governs Ananké Asseff production, whether she is using photography or not. This coherence is not the result of a strategy established ahead in time, but of different leaps that she ventures to take, moments of true "blindness" where the only solid ground is an insistent image that precedes any assignation or meaning. For the artist, the construction of meaning is a task that involves confronting the void that lies in wait at the end of each illumination"-P. 21. The book includes her latest work titled "Bardo", a photographic installation inspired in horses.
