This is a thorough study by the founder of the Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad del Bío-Bío. The first part is a history from pre-Columbian times to 1973, omitting the long colonial period. The second part considers the evolution of urbanism in Chile and includes a chronology of national and international architectural events and several annexes.
