About This Book

An account of the life of King Charles II (Carlos) of Spain, the last Spanish Habsburg ruler. Born 1661, died 1700, this monarch is long-misunderstood and ridiculed for events outside his control. A great read, but some aspects must be taken with a grain of salt. The King was said to be illiterate, however, there are many of his personal writings that prove otherwise. An esteemed scholar he was not, but he was able to write, read and communicate well.
