Based on in-depth interviews with ten women who, like Glennis Dennehy, are former gang associates, "The girls in the gang" widens the understanding and dispels some of the myths about this secretive world. It considers how and why women get into gangs, the inferior roles they occupy, the dynamics that keep them there and the means by which women can escape gang control.
