Claire Manston knew she was going to love her new job as secretary to the celebrated author Steven Hollis, on the beautiful Isle of Wight. Steven was kind, interesting to work for - and very attractive. Also he was a widower, and after a none too happy marriage deserved better luck next time. Certainly the situation seemed ripe for a romance; everything in fact would have been perfect - if it hadn’t been for Steven’s friend and next-door neighbour, that maddening Scott Lomas. A famous television personality, he was everything Claire disliked- too clever, too cynical, too sure of his power over women. She was not going to be just another victim of his charm! But in spite of the so much more suitable Steven, that was easier said than done!
