Documents and analyzes problem of elder abuse in institutional and family settings, based on interviews with eight women and 17 men now living in institutions. Reviews concept of demographic aging and economic dependency it generates. Explores dynamics between elderly and those responsible for them, as well as situations that can lead to abuse, rejection or neglect. Last chapter reviews international laws as well actions and legislation in Mexico and Jalisco for protection and benefit of elderly. Edition limited to 300 copies.
