About This Book

Extrait de la préface : "This book ... represents stage one of the research into what constitues the justice delivery system in Zambia. The study focussed on finding out what the structures of justice delivery are, their capacitiy to deliver justice, and the impact of poverty on the system's capacity to deliver justice. The study was also interessed in the accessibility of the justice delivery system to the people, especially women. The study wanted to find out the impact of poverty on women and men's access to justice. The study revealed that the justice delivery system is wide and delivery system is wide and includes not just the formal courts but other agencies like churches, NGOs, and chiefs and headmen's courts. The police through the victim support unit resolve problems faced especially by women and children, thus relieving pressure on the formal court structures."
