UNAM researchers discovered thousands of mural fragments buried in the foundations of building 40, next to the Palace of the Columns. In addition, according to research, the fragments were used as rubble in the building fill of a new building around 800 AD. "Memories of the excavations in building 40 of the architectural ensemble of the Palace of the Columns in El Tajin, Veracruz, center of activities of the ruling class in the local Epiclassic (850-1050 AD).
