About This Book

This is the diary that a young Maurtian girl wrote from 1944 to 1948. She tells about life at Le Chateau du Reduit (the abode of the Governor of Mauritius), the hardships endured by the local population during the war, the social injustices of her time, the rise of the Mauritian Labour Party, the attitude of the British towards Mauritians, the supremacy of Mauritian soccer... She also tells about her extraordinary meeting with Hitler aboard a submarine off the coast of Grand Bay. Hitler, apparently, was trying to rucuperate a talisman that might have helped Germany to win the war!
