Coordinating volunteer vessels of opportunity to collect oceanographic data in Kachemak Bay and lower Cook Inlet

Discusses the potential of using local community volunteers and their vessels for collecting oceanographic data. The project, initiated by Cook Inlet Keeper and the Kachemak Bay Research Reserve, resulted in a database of over 7500 private and commercial vessels that frequent Kachemak Bay, Lower Cook Inlet, and the Gulf of Alaska.
