About This Book

For the sculptor Daphne Kerber, the human form is one of her most important subjects. She regards the elaboration of a human figure as peregrinating along the body in a special world, in a wonderful landscape. Various materials come into play in her work, while the artist finds wood to be the liveliest choice for figures and portraits. She carefully removes the material layer by layer, but the material of the body nevertheless increases and becomes more concentrated. It therefore seems that the body is structured as if from within: over the bones, the skin is laid like a white cloth that gently covers the interior without the transparency becoming lost. The monograph presents an overview of the spectrum of Daphne Kerber?s artistic work based on works from thirty years.
